Come join us for a hamn radio testing session to earn your license.

About our team:

* We are members of the San Angelo Amateur Radio Club W5QX est. 1922

Who may register for this testing session?

* While we primarily test for our local community, all seeking new licenses or upgrades are welcome.

What's required?

* Prior to enrollment, you will need to register with FCC Cores and obtain an FRN (FCC Registration Number)
* You will need a valid e-mail address to register with the FCC and to register for the exam.    
* An internet capable device with a webcam that is compatible with Zoom and a modern web browser.
* A quiet testing area where you will be alone and not disturbed, bathrooms and vehicle cabins are suprisingly popular.  You will need to give the testing team a room tour with the webcam, so your work surface will need to be free of clutter, and you may only have one screen within your sight.  Other screens in the room may be covered with towels or pillow cases.

What's allowed during testing?

* You are allowed optionally, one piece of scratch paper and writing utensils at your discrection.  The paper must be blank on both sides at the start of the test
* You are allowed a calculator, however a basic calculator is provided within the test, or use of an on-screen calculator is allowed.  Any physical calculators must have their memory cleared on camera.

What's not allowed?

* Wearable smart devices, such as smart watches or glasses are forbidden.
* Headsets and ear buds are not allowed.
* More than one screen within your sight line is not allowed.
* Other people in your testing space is not allowed (exceptions for testing of minors if their guardians wish to observe.
* Other apps that may affect the sterility of the test are not allowed, such as chat apps, or remote console/control applications.  (No Discord, Teams, Teamviewer, etc.)  Testing team will review the running apps on your computer prior to testing.

How much does it cost?

* Adult testsing fess are $15
* Under 18 is $5
* Testing fess are considered non-refundable if you fail to show.
* Once you pass your exam, FCC will charge $35/10yr period for the license seperately.  Ask the testing team about license reimbursement programs for minors.
*  Once you register, payment should be made via the square payment link provided PRIOR to joining the test session.
