The exam location will be a room on the 5th floor of Hayden (Hayden Hall 503). Enter through either door and take the elevator to the fourth floor. Take the stairs and follow the signs to the Wireless Club spcae. If you have access issues or can't find the room text Marty Sullaway (617-893-3459).

Please review the information below to best prepare. If you have any questions or want a study buddy, the best place to go is the NU Wireless Slack (https://neuwireless.slack.com/join/signup).

Some logistics are below:

You MUST bring your own laptop that has internet access and a standard web browser. We use a testing service called ExamTools (exam.tools) to facilitate examinations, and a computer is mandatory. When you arrive for the exam, please expect to be seated by the VE team so that your monitor is visible while completing the exam.

❏ You must have a working laptop computer.

❏ You may NOT use any kind of tablet, iPad, or any Chromebook. They won’t work. Note: certain versions of Linux may not work.

❏ NO EXTERNAL MOUSE OR KEYBOARD is allowed to be connected to a laptop. You will press the A, B, C, and D keys to answer a question and automatically advance to the next one. You may also use the RIGHT/LEFT ARROW KEYS on your KEYBOARD to advance or go back through the questions.

❏ Practice! Please be familiar with the exam and have taken a practice test or a few before testing.

❏ Know the material! You should be able to complete the exam within 15 minutes. Most questions are short and simple concepts.

❏ Practice Sites: We recommend either HamStudy.org, a free site with lots of tips, or ARRL Exam Review for Ham Radio™, a free site from the national ham radio group that you may want to join.

❏ Certificate of Successful Completion of Exam (CSCE): The Exam Manager will email you a CSCE that includes your digital signature that you will keep for your records when you pass any element.

❏ U.S. PHOTO ID: ONE legal PHOTO ID will need to be shown to the VE Team. Adults must show a U.S. or state-issued driver’s license, non-driver state ID, or U.S. passport. Under-18 students may show one of the above items, or the student shows a school ID or birth certificate and a legal guardian presents a photo ID.
