VE Exams

REGISTRATION Instructions: The Capital City Amateur Radio Club Volunteer Examiner Team offers in-person electronic testing. We do not offer remote on-line exam sessions.

We do not accept walk-ins, you must register prior to the registration deadline.

**Registration for an exam CLOSES ONE WEEK PRIOR to the exam session. **

If no one registers, there will NOT be an exam session.

You'll need to  provide an FCC Federal Registration Number (FRN) to take your test. Here is the link to apply for your FRN number [https://apps.fcc.gov/cores/userLogin.do] The FRN number is free and is the number you'll use when corresponding with the FCC or doing anything with your license.

You must include a valid email and your phone number during registration.

Exam Location Information: Exams are held in the Lewis and Clark Library located at 120 S. Last Chance Gulch in downtown Helena, MT.

Exams start promptly at 6:30 PM. Those arriving late may not be allowed to begin the exam.

What to bring to the exam session: • $14.00 cash • A photo ID such as your driver’s license. • You may bring a calculator with all programming erased.
• Cell phones, personal tablets, or laptops are NOT permitted. • Bring the PIN that is generated when you REGISTERED. We can provide your pin if you forget it.
