Paid Test Session at VA Hospital Downtown CHS

$15 amateur radio license exams for all levels of license (Technician Class, General Class, and Amateur Extra Class). If you pass your test, you may take the next level test at the same test session for no additional charge.

Pre-registration is strongly suggested but not required.

You will be contacted via the email you use to register for the session. We'll email you a reminder approximately one week before your test.

Location: Auditorium, Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, 109 Bee Street, Charleston, SC 29401. Free parking is available on site.

Please give yourself ample time to park, navigate the building, check in with the testing team, and be in your seat by 9:55am.

Please bring with you the following things:

$15 EXACT CASH to cover your testing fee

Government-issued photo ID

A simple calculator with the memory cleared if you wish to use one (optional, but note that cell phones, tablets, and smart watches may not be used during the test)

Your FRN

Note: The FCC charges a Congress-mandated license fee of $35 for amateur radio licenses. You will pay this fee directly to the FCC after you pass your $15 test with us.
